Warfare in the mind

The human mind it's such a deep and complex place, it is what commands our life decisions, directions, etc.. it's one of the biggest mysteries from God's creation, just by the fact that he allowed our own minds to study itself..  and we still can't know everything and have all the knowledge and all the questions answered, otherwise our minds would break because we can't be God, the Lord of all things.
When we find ourselves in circumstances that challenges our mental health, it's important to have our mentality and perceptions in a firm place otherwise we will face a bigger downfall and allow Satan to play chess with our emotions and feelings even more in order to be used against us. Mental illnesses, disorders (mind torment in general) it can be one of the most painful positions to find ourselves in.. especially without any support or external help.. It makes it even more scary to go through.
When it comes to seek help and improvement from the world of psychology, especially as a Christian it is important to consider many different factors one of them being that there's things that not even through the help of a therapist or counsellor can be healed. God obviously provided us multiple different tools in this world to help us and find the keys to freedom and healing, just as his word says in (John 8:32) - ''And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free'', There's nothing wrong with seeking therapy from advisors therapists or counsellors as long as they know what they're doing and and your in partnership with God not only on this journey but all journeys we might face in this life. As people we all have the need to interact, share and confess to others in order to feel less alone or as the only one struggling with our own life circumstances and battles, but therapy without God is a problem, it becomes a vital missing piece in our pathway to be truly healed and to be set free.

Depression/mental health and the church

When it comes to experiencing depression it's a very painful pit to be in.. as if a dark heavy cloud and weight on the chest and life of our heart follows us, because it truly does.. it can become such a burden to carry around that lies to us all day long and do not permit to see the colours of life that God has for us.. In the church there are many debates between mental health simply being a spiritual oppression and others by simply being a flesh oppression, but I say it can be a mix of both depending a lot from what type of oppression is being experienced and from what root or circumstantial situation is coming from. For a Christian suffering with mental health challenges, the church can be such a difficult place to find refuge sometimes, black and white opinions based on individual perspectives and experiences will be shared and sometimes make it worst than better, more the condemnation and shame that will be projected for not being able to instantly overcome certain battles.. It can also cause damage on how we relate to God and his love, hurt the perspective and even the ability on how to receive and open up to the unconditional love from our Father especially on individuals who already struggle with rejection issues and a weaker view on what unconditional love truly is. Safety, compassionate grace and nurture are crucial when such battles are experienced, getting the right knowledge and choose wisely where to express more vulnerability becomes another important step to take after going to our father first where we can find perfect love and safety in first place. There is power and wonders on what a simple act of validation, compassionate grace and love can do to our neighbour and even to ourselves.

When you have no tears left to cry

The darkness and pain that this world can cause on us it almost can literally make our soul leave our body as mechanism of self protection and survival begging for a limit, having no tears left to cry, a sign we've reached the rock bottom, the limits of our limits and the loss of innocence, a precious fundament in our soul. It takes a long term amount of deep, unvalidated and unprocessed suffering and internal pain that leads to a disconnection from ourselves, this can be one of the most scariest conditions to be experienced, It's the language and cry of the soul when it reached its limits. God didn't create us to be in chronic stress and pain, it wasn't his will, but he definitely can restore, perform  miracles with battles we think we lost in our own understanding.. or that we think it will never be possible to be the same ever again.. As someone who have experienced such battles for long term, I can say that things are not perfect, but I can confidently testify and say through the name of Jesus Christ that I've became a walking miracle in the kingdom of God, not only me but also many other surviving soldiers out there who represent strength, who bravely survived deep realities. One of the things I used to struggle with was the feeling of being the only one, the worst one.. when  going through certain types of battles it can strongly give us the feeling and make us believe we are alone in this and the only ones out there or even that God and no one really cares which is not true. The devil is a liar and he uses this tactic to drive us to isolation.

(1 Corinthians 10:13) - No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

We might be on the same boat out there with someone else but we still have a uniqueness to our own story which is  beautiful and precious, we all have a unique identity in God, but the comfort that I have received after understanding that in a healthy way was such a special experience.

Strong minds are darkness biggest fear

As I mentioned at the beginning, the human mind Is such a deep complex place that leads our emotions and life decisions, and there's a huge spiritual warfare taking place against our minds, it's where most battles start at, those who have strong bullet proof wise minds become a huge threat, darkness also has its weaknesses..  more than we might realize sometimes.. and one of them is fear.. we might find ourselves fearful of darkness sometimes but she's the one actually more fearful of us, otherwise there would be no need for such severe spiritual warfare and attacks, the constant bullying Satan throws at us has a deeper purpose other than to just torture us for fun.. one of them is to also separate us from the receiving God's love and his peace. Anxiety, Panic attacks, stress and spirits of overwhelming self accusation/condemnation, all this overwhelming emotions he creates in us have the purpose once again to distract and separate us from receiving love and peace from God that surpasses all understanding which is always available to be received at all times and has the power to heal us instantly from hours days or weeks of overwhelming torment while we are in the deception of believing that God is distant from us. It's no coincidence that God describes Satan as the father of lies, the definition of a real lie is when it's done in subtle invisible ways where we are not even aware of, that's the most effectual type of lies,  every time God mentions something in his words, he really means it! Directly! That's why he warned us to be sober and vigilant, watchout for the enemy's schemes, and understand how the enemy works the same way he studies us with strategy we also have to study him and be aware of his subtle sneaky moves. If he knows he can ''separate us'' from being connected to God's love and peace, we will become an easier target since such disconnection will decrease our sense of safety in love which leads to anxiety, stress and many other overwhelming issues like confidence as well where it will end up in total destruction of our mental health.

A Prayer for a Healthier mind

Heavenly Father,
I come before You today with a grateful heart, acknowledging that You are the Creator of my mind, body, and spirit. I thank You for the precious gift of my mind and the ability to think, learn, and grow.

Lord, I ask You that not only you fill my mind with Your peace, but allow me to learn and be able to receive your healing love that you have for me when I'm in struggle. When worries, panic and anxieties try to overwhelm me, I pray that Your presence would calm my thoughts and replace fear with faith. Guard my heart and mind with Your perfect peace that transcends all understanding, and help me focus on things that are true, pure, and lovely. Remind me to smile more O God at the gift of life you bless me with everyday.

Father, I surrender to you any negative or harmful thoughts that take up space in my mind. Whatever worries me and torments me I declare that it's in your hands. I know that Your Word says to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Help me to renew my mind daily with Your truth and to reject the lies of the enemy. Give me the strength to replace anxious thoughts with trust in Your sovereignty and goodness.

Lord, help me to keep my thoughts aligned with Your will. Teach me to meditate on Your Word day and night (Psalm 1:2), and may it be a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105). Fill my mind with the hope and joy that comes from knowing You, and may my thoughts reflect Your love, kindness, and grace.

I pray that You would help me to cast my burdens on You, knowing that You care for me (1 Peter 5:7). When I feel overwhelmed or weary, remind me that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13).

Lord, I thank You for the power of Your Holy Spirit within me, who guides, strengthens, and empowers me. I ask that You continue to fill me with Your wisdom and peace, that my mind may be healthy and clear, and that I may glorify You in all that I think, say, and do.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
